Norton 360 with LifeLock: The best all-in-one security software package
Norton 360 with LifeLock is an incredible offering of payment security services. LifeLock Solo services cost the same, but without the antivirus or VPN protection that this package offers.
These days, it seems like you need a ton of security software to protect your money, data, and identity. To help you make the right decisions, we're looking at some of the most popular digital services in the business so you know what's best and what to expect. This brings us to Norton 360 with LifeLock. This service combines three separate operations in one package and eliminates some of the shortcomings of these services. Here's how it works and what we think about.
Norton 360 is basically three products in one. So let's look at them separately to check some details.
Device Security - This is the Norton antivirus part of the package. Since it is Norton, it is quite comprehensive. You get a cloud backup of your PC to restore data, protect against malicious websites, and use antivirus / anti-malware software. It also includes a basic password manager if you don't already have one, and parental controls to block certain content or websites. Unfortunately, there are no anti-phishing benefits and Norton software takes up a great deal of space on the devices it is installed on, but the security options are excellent.
VPN - Norton also offers VPN as part of its package that automatically encrypts Internet data to prevent spying on Wi-Fi networks and to prevent ISPs from easily identifying you while browsing. It also helps to block ad tracking and promises not to keep logs of your activity. Unfortunately, this is limited compared to most other VPNs these days. There are no options to improve file sharing, switch servers, split the tunnel, activate a kill switch, or any other basic functionality that some VPN users rely on. This is only a good deal if you or your family are not currently using a VPN and don't want to have to choose one.
LifeLock - LifeLock offers protection against identity theft and insurance if something goes wrong. If your bank account is stolen, you have lost your wallet, etc. It can contact the credit reporting agencies on your behalf and monitor all kinds of suspicious technology online. As mentioned above, LifeLock has had a troubled past with repeated misleading advertising fines. It remains to be seen if the company has fully cleared its case now that it is part of Norton. However, the basic services here are good for those who want identity theft insurance.
Norton 360 with LifeLock user interface
We love the way Norton has integrated VPN and LifeLock services into its software interface. The "big buttons for different categories" idea remains, making it easy to add your personal information to set up financial tracking and more. Clear categories of "Cloud Backup" and "Secure VPN" or "Password Manager" make it easy to know where you are and where you need to go. There are also helpful warnings and updates for each category that let you know if you need to configure them or if there is something to be aware of.
Norton has not always been that easy to understand and use, and it is good that the company has made such improvements to its system, especially since this version has many additional features. However, it still has the annoying tendency to get tangled up in your operating system at all levels and can sometimes show up when you don't need it, leading to slowdowns or app compatibility issues. This is a common complaint about antivirus software of all kinds, but it is important to keep this in mind before deciding to download it.
